Reverend Wiatt Randle Obituary

Died in Lowndes Co, Mi., March 24th 1853, Wiatt Randle, in his 68th year. He was born in Brunswick Co., Va., Sept. 8th 1785. In early life he moved to Montgomery Co., N.C. where he married Miss Sarah Tomlinson, Jan. 5th 1806, thence, in 1835 he moved to the place where he ended his days. He was attacked with bronchitis, which finally ended in consumption, with which he died. He was confined to his bed about 18 months previous to his death. In his 17th year he attached himself to the M. E. Church, of which he lived a consistent member. About a week before his death, confident that his end was nigh, I thought it my duty to interrogate him upon the subject. Everything seemed to be settled in his mind, but the thought of leaving his family. I read and prayed with him, and during prayer his soul was blessed, and he shouted aloud the praises of God. Soon after he became reconciled to the will of God, gave up his wife into the hands of the widowed God, and his last moments, exhorted his family to meet him in heaven.

Content is a christian afflicted in life; peaceful and happy on death and possessed with a full hope of a blissful resurrection.

And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me write blessed are the dead which, die in the lord from henceforth; Yea saith the spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow thee.
