Obit in same paper - "Lived in Bates County 60 Years. On March 0th, 1916, Mr. I.N. Brown passed away at the home of D.W. Cloud in Altona, Mo. The funeral was conducted by Rev. J.A. Smith of Dayton, Mo., from the Altona Baptist church and burial in the Altona cemetery beside the brother of another bachelor brother, Wm. Brown, who preceded him to the grave several years. Mr. Brown was born near Louisiana, in Pike county, Mo., Jan. 3rd, 1835, and came to Bates county in 1856, and with his father's family settled in Mingo township. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. W.H.H. Duke, of Adrian, Mo., and Mrs. D.W. Cloud of Altona, Mo., with whom he made his home for more than twenty years. A few days before his death Mr. Brown fell from a loaded wagon and the wheel passed over him, breaking the bone in one limb below the hip and his death was due to the injuries thus received. In the death of Nute Brown the community lost a good man and the church at Altona one of its oldest and truest members. He united with the Baptist church in his early youth and helped to organize the Altona Baptist church in 1869. There remains but one of the eleven charter members of this church, M.V. Owens of Adrian, Mo."
