Paralysis Claims John Fidler who came here 70 years ago
John Fidler, 76 years old, one of the first settlers of the Big Woods district north of Aurora, died at his home 224 Claim Street, last night at 9:15 o'clock of paralysis. He had been a resident of this section for almost 70 years, coming to Aurora with his parents when a little boy.
At one time he owned most of the land in the section now known as the Big Woods. The land on which the church now stands was part of the claim on which his parents settled when they came West.
For more than half a century Fidler lived in the Big Woods. He moved to aurora about 10 years ago.
He leaves besides his widow, three children, Nicholas Fidler, Mrs. John Sepplefrick and Mrs. Elizabeth Berkes all of Aurora.
The funeral will be held from the late home Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock and at 9:30 o'clock from St Nicholas church. Burial will be in St Nicholas Cemetery.
