Arthur was the son of John McCord and Sarah Price. He married 1st to (___ Orange) about 1806. They had at least 4 children: George b.1804, Sally b. 1807, Jessie 1810 and James b.1811. Arthur was in the War of 1812, pvt. "Flying Camp" ( McDowell's) VA. Militia. He seems to have lost his wife during or after this, and there is a feeling that the children from his first marriage lived with his brother Aaron or Isiah McCord, later moving to northwestern parts of Indiana in Shelby, Porter and La Port Counties.

He married 2nd to Rebecca Flesher on August 21, 1815, in Harrison Co., VA. She died in 1861 in Pleasants Co., WV. She was the daughter of Adam Flesher and Elizabeth Statts, born 1796, Weston, Harrison Co., VA. Arthur & Rebecca were the parents of at least 7 children: Mrs. Mahalia Beaty, Mrs. Marjary Green, Mrs. Elizabeth Rebecca Phillips, Ellis, Elias, and Arthur McCord. Ellis and one other infant died young.

They left Weston, Lewis Co., (West) Virginia for Coshocton Co., OH some time after 1821 and lived there til the 1840's when the moved to Van Buren TWP, Lee Co., IA. On their way to Iowa, they stopped through Laporte Co., IN where his children from his first marriage were living: George & Jesse McCord. Arthur McCord Sr. died shortly after they moved to Iowa, March 1849/1850 and is buried near his daughter Marjary McCord Green, who died August 02, 1849. Her stone stand in the Pioneer Cemetery, Van Buren TWP, Lee Co., IA. Arthur & Rebecca, his second wife, moved with their children to Iowa, all three of the daughters (Mahalia, Elizabeth, and Marjary) had married and stayed in Iowa. After Arthur's death, Rebecca and her two youngest sons: Arthur Jr. and Elias left Iowa after 1850 to Wasp, Pleasants Co., VA (WV), living near her brother Henry Flesher. One other son Ellis died young.
