Enlisted on January 1, 1862, age 30, and mustered on January 1, 1862, into Company C, 7th Regiment, New Hampshire Infantry (Union). Enlisted Rank: Private.


The 7th regiment was organized and mustered in at Manchester, New Hampshire, on December 13, 1861. On January 14, 1862, the 7th moved to New York City, until February 13 at White Street Barracks. Orders for Dry Tortugas, Florida, on February 12. Duty at Dry Tortugas, Fla., till June 16, 1862. Moved to Beaufort, S. C., June 16, and duty there till September 15. Moved to St. Augustine, Fla., September 15, and duty there till May 10, 1863.


Battles, Skirmishes, and Engagements: Second Battle of Fort Wagner (July 18, 1863); Battle of Olustee, Florida (February 20, 1864).


Re-enlisted on February 28, 1864. Duty in front of Richmond north of the James River November 17, 1864, to January 3, 1865. Duty at Wilmington till June 1865, and at Goldsborough, N. C., till July. Mustered out on July 20, 1865, at Goldsborough, North Carolina.


Invalid Pension filed on April 9, 1886 (Application No. 569,326 and Certificate No. 594,515).
