M. Nuzhet Gencoglu, retired Defense Language Institute (DLI) Turkish teacher, passed away at Community Hospital in Monterey at the age of 77.
Nuzhet came to the United States in 1957. After his graduation from the University of Portland, he started to work at DLI as a Turkish teacher in 1966. He was retired after 32 years of service as a Turkish teacher and the head of the Turkish Department in 1998. He is survived by his wife, Nilgul Gencoglu of Pacific Grove, and his sister, Esin Gencoglu of Ankara, Turkey.
