Death of Pioneer at Manhattan

It is the deepest sense of regret that the many friends of Mrs. Ann Perks will learn of her death which occurred at her home at 7:30 o'clock on Saturday evening July 28th, after a protracted illness of three months duration, and was buried at 10 o'clock Monday. Mrs. Perks was born near Liverpool, England, July 5, 1836, and came to America at the age of nineteen years, crossing the trackless plains of Utah, where she was united in marriage to William Perks in 1855. In 1865 they removed to "German Gulch" remaining for one year at that place, thence going to the present site of Butte City, locating at what is now known as the famous Parrot mine.
After four years residence at this place they came to Gallatin Valley, where they have maintained a continuous residence for the past twenty-four years, laboring against the numberous difficulties incident have reared a family of seven children, all of whom are living, save one. Mrs. Perks was a devoted and affectionate wife and mother - the center of a happy, loving family, ever manifesting a kind unselfish spirit towards friends and stranger alike.
Her many friends tender their heartfelt sympathy to the family in thier sad bereavment.
