Mr. E W Adkins, received a telegram from Clinton yesterday announcing the death of his father, Calvin Adkins, near that place at the ripe old age of 76 years. The deceased was one of the best known residents of Anderson County and was highly respected by all who knew him. He leaves a wife and five children.
When Calvin Adkins was born on June 6, 1814, in Anderson, Tennessee, his father, Levi, was 20 and his mother, Elizabeth, was 19. He married Eleanor "Ellen" Mitchell on October 6, 1834, in Knox, Tennessee. They had five childern during their marriage. He died on March 9, 1886, in his hometown at the age of 71, and was buried in Old Clinton Baptist Church Cemetery, located at 215 Edgewood Ave Clinton, Anderson County, Tennessee, USA
Medical Information: Medical discharge from Union Army due to chronic rheumatism and diarrhea.
