Toy Moss Allison of Waxahachie passed away Monday, January 31, 2011. Toy was born January 15, 1919 in Prairie Dell, TX to parents, John W. Moss and Molly Bridges Moss. She married William Taylor Allison August 12, 1939 and resided in Waxahachie for fifty-five years. She was a loyal member of the First United Methodist Church in Waxahachie.
Throughout her life Toy enjoyed many hobbies. She was an avid seamstress and also enjoyed baking. She had a great passion for art, creating many drawings and watercolor paintings which she enjoyed sharing with family and friends. She had a great love of reading and was a regular patron of Sims Library. She was very active in her church choir for many years and loved singing with family members. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her grand-children and great-grandchildren.
Toy is survived by one son, Mike Allison, of Waxahachie. Affectionately called MaMa and T-Toe, her surviving grand-children are, Nicole Steffens and husband Dan of Mansfield, TX, Allison Tilly Carswell and husband Craig of Winchester, MA, and Stephen Tilly and wife Rachael of New Braunfels, TX. Also surviving are great-grandchildren Collin Steffens, Macy Steffens, Calvin Carswell, Mitchell Carswell, Jasper Carswell and Chase Tilly. Her surviving sister is Iris Johnson of Waxahachie and many special, loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband William Taylor Allison in 1971; daughter Diane Allison Tilly in 2004; three brothers, Lester Moss, Grady Moss, and twin brother, Leo Moss; five sisters, Velma Burditt, Zelma Barber, Wynn Aday, Stannie Lee and Marie Bridges.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 6-8 PM, Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be at 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 3, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church in Waxahachie with Rev. Jerry Galloway officiating.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Tilly, Dan Steffens, Darrell Wilson, John Bridges, Gregg Lee and Brett Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers are great-grandsons Collin Steffens, Calvin Carswell, Mitchell Carswell, Jasper Carswell and Chase Tilly. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Burial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Memorial Fund at First United Methodist Church, 505 W. Marvin, Waxahachie, TX 75165.
