Verrell Anderson
Former Dundalk resident Verrell Anderson died on May 9 at age 96.
Born in Sparrows Point, she moved to Dundalk after marrying at age 20. During World War II she was employed as an office worker at Bethlehem Steel. After the death of her husband in 1963, she worked in the accounting office at the Hecht Co.
She was a member of the American Legion Post 38 auxiliary for over 50 years and held offices including president of the local auxiliary and district vice president. She also volunteered at local veterans' hospitals.
She was a member of Ateaze Senior Center, the Dundalk-Patapsco Neck Historical Society and the Sparrows Point High School Alumni Association.
In recent years she lived in Harford County to be near her daughter. She is also survived by three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held on May 20 at Deer Creek United Methodist Church in Forest Hill, Md.
