James Franklin "Jim" Jones, of Alpena, passed away on Feb 20, 2013 in Eureka Springs. He was 75 years old.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, Feb. 26 at Holt Memorial Chapel from 5 to 7 p.m.

Funeral service will be on Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 10 a.m. also at the Chapel. John Stuckey will officiate. Burial will be in the Alpena Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Brent Wheatly, Ron Ward, Scott Cantrell, Jerry Cantwell, Howard Collins, and Randy Stull. Honorary pallbearers include Bobby Jack Graves, Bernal Green, Hurley Young, Joe Luney, Charlie Maybee, and Mike McCoy. ...

The son of Frank and Ruby (Bullock) Jones was born on December 26, 1937 in Alpena, AR.

Jim was baptized at an early age in the Alpena Methodist Church. He graduated from Alpena High School in 1955. He attended the University of Arkansas, maintaining a place on the Dean's List and graduating with a Master's Degree. He taught business at Alpena High School for five years. Then he owned and operated Jones Supply Co. in Harrison, Batesville, Russellville, and Springdale.

He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Mary Cantrell Jones, on September 6, 1997. Jim spent most of his life farming, an occupation that he loved. He was a successful cattleman. He stated that he could never visualize not raising cattle. Jim and Mary had a great compassion for all animals especially dogs, which no one cared for. Jim had a quick wit and enjoyed being with his family and friends.

Jim is survived by his wife, Mary, of the home; an aunt, Mary Bullock Robinson, of Fayetteville; and many other relatives and friends. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 909 W. 2nd Street, Little Rock, AR 72203.
