Rodney Degrass Swasey was born to Joseph A. & Hannah Mercey Currier Swasey in Woodstock, Grafton, New Hampshire.

He married Lucy Loretta Scovil 28 Dec 1850 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah. To them were blessed nine children; Charles Harold, Sidney Lysander, Hannah Loretta (Rowe), Rodney Degrass, Joseph Amos, Laura Lurinda (Rowe), Lucius Nelson, Franklin Joel, & Dudley Swasey.

He married Martha York Carter 28 Dec 1857 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah. To them were blessed ten children; Mary Ann (Condon), Sarah Y. (Runnels), Lona Lerana(Ellerston), Abigail Mercy (Reed), Eillotta (Molyneux), Martha Melissa, Lillian Marsell (Allen), Estola Arminta (Slade), Rodney Degrass, & Pearl May (Jones) Swasey.

Swasey Family Cemetery is located abt 1.15miles due West of Mona City (500 South street), West of the river (39.809381 N, 111.876310 W.) The cemetery contains only two grave markers: the monolith for Rodney Degrass Swasey senior and a smaller pink stone, barely visible thru the fence, for Lucy Loretta Scovil Swasey.

Only Rodney senior and Lucy Loretta are buried in the family plot.
