Mrs. BERTHA BEARD Dies at Daughter's Home in Newport

Mrs. BERTHA A. BEARD, 71, lifetime resident of Clinton, died at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Clara Bartlett in Newport. She had been ill for several months and for the past year had made her home with her daughter.

Mrs. Beard, widow of Arthur Beard, was born April 13, 1882 in Vermillion County, Indiana and was the daughter of Bert and Clara Carter Crane.

She was a member of the Christian Church of Clinton.

Survivors include one son, Frank Beard, Flint, Michigan, three daughters, Mrs. Bartlett, Mrs. Evelyn Cooley, Decatur, Illinois, and Mrs. Martha Libel, Clinton; four grandchildren, including Mrs. Margaret Goodman of Clinton; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Gene Crane, Watsonville, California; two sisters, Mrs. Mayme Stewart, Hendersonville, NC, and Mrs. Hazel Lohrmann, Hillsdale.

The body was taken to the Frist Funeral Home where it will remain for funeral services at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Rev. Edward Rudicel will officiate and interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.
