George's parents were Jacob Beaver and Elizabeth R. Harriman married in 1831 in Montgomery County, Indiana.

George Turner Bever was married two times. First marriage was to Rachel L Hodson before 1856 as they are listed in the 1856 census together in Mahaska Co, Iowa. This census states he had been in the state of Iowa for one year. It also states he was born in Ohio and was a farmer. Rachel was born in Indiana and had been in Iowa for 13 years.

George and Rachel left Iowa early in 1859 as they are listed in a wagon train and left Kansas April 20, 1859. This train was called the Lightening Train by other trains they passed on the way west.(PIONEERS OF 1859, Author William and Lavina McCormick, pub 1919, Salem, OR). They are found in the 1860 census of Rasbury Prct, Douglas Co, OR, living with James Hodson(father). They divorced Dec 1, 1860 in Douglas Co, Oregon. George returned to Iowa. No children of this marriage.

On Nov 17, 1868 in Hartford, Warren Co, Iowa, he married to Mary Esther Freel, daughter of James B Freel and Mary aka Polly Gwinn.

They had the following children:
1. James Germine aka Jim Bever
2. Mary Arizona aka Zona Bever Leverich
3. Minneola aka Nola Bever Eldridge
4. Roy Russell Bever

George was a prospector. He would leave for times and prospect for gold and semi-precious stones in the west, Prescott, Arizona and Custer Co, Colorado. He did take his family along on at least one trek as son Roy Russell Bever was born in Rosita, Custer Co, Colorado. His other professions are listed as wagonmaker and carpenter in census records.

He died on January 13, 1888 in St Charles, Madison Co, Iowa.
