Byron Eugene Redd - SAVANNAH - On May 22nd, 2011 Byron Eugene Redd departed this life in the arms of his loving family. Byron was a faithful member of Savannah Christian Church in Savannah, Ga. for the last three years. Byron grew up in the Washington D.C. school system. He went on to continue his education, becoming a Certified Sterile Processing Technician at the Perdue School of Technology. Before coming to Savannah, Byron and his beloved wife, Valerie were faithful members of Mt. Cavalry Baptist Church in New Carrollton, Md. Byron was best known for his skill on the Play Station. He was the best. Byron worked for 28 years as a Sterile Processing Technician at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington D.C. until 2007. Because of his skills, he was able to relocate to Savannah, Ga. and work at both St. Joseph and Candler Hospitals. On January 9, 2009, Byron was diagnosed with stage IV Colon Cancer that had spread to his liver. Because of his illness, it brought he and his wife, Valerie closer to their Lord and their Church. From the beginning of his illness, Byron was a pillar of strength. He had the prettiest smile and his wife always told him to show her his Pearly Whites. He never once complained of being depressed. He was a very very strong willed man. He has gone through two years of Chemo and three months of Radiation and he always said he was blessed and happy. He had a glow and a smile on his face until the end. Byron was preceded in life by his father, Clarence Fells. Byron was married to the Love of his life, his wife, Valerie for twenty five years.
