IN MEMORIAM,

William A. Naples Sr., 86, of New Britain passed away Monday, May 23, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. Married for 64 years, he was the beloved husband of Elsie M. (Hughes) Naples.

Bill was born in New Britain son of the late Angelo and Chiara "Nellie" (Borselle) Naples.

A lifelong resident, he attended local schools including E.C. Goodwin Tech and served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Cabildo. After the war, he returned home to work for his father at The Naples Plumbing and Heating in New Britain.

He also worked for Seligman & Sons in Meriden, M.J. Daly and Sons Inc. in Waterbury and Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in Southington.

He is a member of St. Joseph Church, The Knights of Columbus and New Britain VFW Post 511, where he served as a Past Commander in 1963. In 1977, Bill was very proud to receive his GED from then Gov. Ella T. Grasso. He then pursued additional courses at Tunxis Community College. Bill was a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox.

Besides his devoted wife Elsie, Bill leaves one son, William A. Naples Jr. and his wife, Donna, of New Britain. He also leaves six daughters, Chiara L. Leone and her husband, Thomas, of Newington, Barbara J. Bartholomew and her husband. Roger J., of Bristol, Evelyn A. Naples of Unionville, Elizabeth M. Sitz and her husband, Scott F. of Middletown, Wendy M. Grosso and her husband, Robert, of Farmington and Marie N. Gagnon and her husband, Raymond J., of Newington; five sisters, Orselina Badolato of New Britain, Michelina Muraca of Plainville, Shirley Perfido and husband, Joseph, of Newington, Janice Salvadori and husband, Arthur, of Newington, Judith Tully and her husband, Edward, of Newington; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Carol Naples of Berlin and Maryann Naples of Avon as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Richard Naples and Angelo Naples Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, May 27, 2011, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 195 S. Main St., New Britain. Burial will follow with military honors at St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain.

Friends may call at The Kenney-Luddy Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St., New Britain, Thursday, May 26, 2011, from 4 to 7 p.m. and Friday, May 26, from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass.

As Bill was a faithful member of his church, the family requests any donations in his memory be made to St. Joseph Church
