Fonnie was the eldest child of ten children born to Absolom E. Hurt and Cynthia Ann Ball. She married Elihue Goodman. They had four daughters and three sons:

Hartsell
Cletis

Fonnie preceded her husband in death.

FONNIE GOODMAN

Fonnie Goodman, 83, of Swords Creek died April 6 in a Richland's hospital following a long illness. Born in Russell County, she was the daughter of the late Absolom and Cynthia Ball Hurt and was a member of the Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, Elihu Goodman of the home; four daughters, Mrs. H. F. (Mary Elma) Shuey, Mrs. R. L. (Daisy) Cason, both of Staunton, Mrs. Lula Goodman and Mrs. Paul (Ida) Hughes, both of Swords Creek; three sons, Major Goodman, of Swords Creek, Hartsell Goodman of Staunton, Cletis Goodman of Keen Mountain; four sisters; Mrs. Lenora Hughey and Mrs. Dulcie West, both of Battle Creek MI, Mrs. Ollie Boyd of Mr. Vernon OH and Mrs. Flossie Gideon of Pittsburg KS; one brother, Orville Hurt of Baltimore MD; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral Services were conducted Saturday at the Honaker Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Bob Emmons and Rev. Harley Dye officiating. Pallbearers were Bill Vance, Sammy Miller, Danny Brown, Stevie Miller, Houston Miller and Danny Hess. Burial followed in Russell Memorial Cemetery at Lebanon, Va."
