Last Will and Testament
I, Robert W. Stokes Sr. of the County of Dunklin and State of Missouri aged sixty eight years do make and publish this my last will.
I. I direct that all my just debts be paid out of my personal estate
II. I give and bequeath to my wife Ella B. Stokes, should she survive me during her natural life, the home where we now live in the city of Malden, Dunklin County, Missouri and described as follows to wit (legal description of city lots and 240 acres of farm land) And at her death to go to and the title vest in, in fee simple, Merrill A. Stokes and Roy M. Stokes (sons by Ella)
III. I give and bequeath to my children John E. Stokes, Amzi L. Stokes, Laura Baker wife of A.J. Baker, Robert W. Stokes, Jr, Luther B. Stokes, Mattie Cohen wife of William Cohen, Birdie Rayburn wife of M.B. Rayburn or their heirs the following real estate to wit: (legal description of 160 acres) to be divided equally between them.
IV. All the residue and remainder of my estate, real personal and mixed I give and bequeath to all of my said nine children to their heirs to be divided equally between them. In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name this 26th day of September 1908. R. W. Stokes, Sr.
The foregoing instrument was at the date thereof signed and declared by the said Robert W. Stokes, Sr. to be his last will and testament in the presence of us, who at his request and in his presence, and in the presence of each other, have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto. D. B.
