Miss Dorothy Gaffin, 38, secretary in the Sioux City boy scout office since the fall of 1932, died Thursday in a hospital here following an operation. She lived at 2006 South Clinton Street.

Miss Gaffin was born at Leaf River, Ill., and when 4 years old, moved with her parents to Pocahontas, Ia. Afterwards, she lived in Havelock, Laurens, Sac City, Albert City and Storm Lake. She was graduated from Storm Lake high school.

At Central City, Ia., she taught school for two years.

Miss Gaffin was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church and the Business and Professional Women's club here.

Survivors include her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles R. Gaffin of Sioux City; a brother, Forrest N., of Kansas City, Mo., and a sister, Mrs. Galen Unger of Oklahoma City.

West & Richards funeral home will send the body to Mount Morris, Ill., for burial.
