Antelope Valley Ledger-Gazette (Lancaster): Mary Acker
Mary Margaret Acker, Antelope Valley resident since 1934, died here yesterday. She was 91.
Funeral rites will be conducted Thursday, 11 a.m. in Mumaw Funeral Home by the Rev. Vernon Bradley of the United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Glendale.
Mrs. Acker, who lived at 805 West Milling St., was born Sept. 16, 1878 in Leavenworth, Kans.
A charter member of the Women's Society for Christian Service here, she was a past president of the group. For many years, she worked in the horticulture section at the Antelope Valley Fair, and she took an active part in the Garden Section of the Lancaster Women's Club.
Her husband, Harvey M. Acker, died July 28, 1947.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Katherine Nichols, Lancaster; Mrs. Clara Esgar, Buena Vista, Colo.; three sons, Harvey L. Acker, Pasadena; John C. Acker, Lancaster; Louis W. Acker, La Canada; a sister, Mrs. Etta Morris, Wichita, Kan.; Scot Linville, Wiley, Colo. and John Linville, Kelona, B.C.; 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Family members suggest donations in Mrs. Acker's memory to the United Methodist Church.
