Raymond L. Bailey, 76, a former resident of Napa, passed away at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Vallejo on July 10, 2006. He was born in Oakland on
Aug. 13, 1929 to Avery Bailey and Betty (Bales) Bailey. He had been living in Vacaville for the past seven years.
He attended schools in Oakland and graduated from Oakland High School. In 1954, he went to work for Morris Plan Finance in Oakland. He remained there for 20 years and then managed various offices in the Bay Area for Morris Plan. He left Morris Plan to become the credit manager for Mare Island Naval Shipyard Credit Union. In 1989, he retired after becoming the general manager for the City and County of Alameda Credit Union.
In 1959 he married the former Jenny Smith.
He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Vallejo and the Exchange Club. As a hobby, he loved to travel. He belonged to the Father's House Church in Vacaville.
He is survived by his wife, Jenny Bailey of Vacaville; one son, Ronald G. Bailey and his wife, Beckie of Dixon; two daughters, Leslie Gallegos and her husband, John of Elk Grove, Lisa Bernardo and her husband, Glenn of Fairfield. He has six grandchildren,
Raymond, Jeremy, Krystyn, Melissa, Amanda and Daniel; and one great-granddaughter, Jaylen; his mother-in-law, Grace Gilmore.
There will be a graveside service held at 1 p.m., today at Tulocay Cemetery, 411 Coombsville Road in Napa. Pastor Bob Bringham will officiate.
Visiting hours will be held at the Claffey and Rota Funeral Home, 1975 Main St., Napa from 9 a.m. to noon on today.
