Memorial services for former smelterman Nephi William Ball, 79, will be Thursday morning at the Longfellow Finnegan Funeral Home at a time to be announced.

Mr. Ball, who formerly lived at the Hagen Manor in Anaconda, died Thursday at the Veterans' Administration Medical Center at Fort Harrison.

He was born in St. Anthony, Idaho, July 6, 1909, the son of Thomas and Sarah Ball. He attended schools there.

Mr. Ball worked as a smelterman for the Anaconda Co. and for many years was night watchman at the Embassy Club in Anaconda.

He was an Army veteran of World War II.

He came from a family of 16 children, of which five brothers and two sisters are still alive.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Mike Ritthaler of Waldport, Ore.; four grandchildren including Bruce and Sally Miller of Anaconda; great-grandchildren, Geri and Jamie Miller of Anaconda; brothers, John of Colorado Springs, Jim of Murray, Utah, Tom of Mission, Texas, Charles of Idaho, and Hemer of Shelly, Idaho; sisters, Judy Loveland of St. George Utah, and Rose Stratton of American Fork, Utah.
