Isaiah was the son of George C and Elizabeth (Miller) Kabrich. He and Amelia Morrison were married on 26 February 1848 in Lovettsville, Loudoun, Virginia. Isaiah and Amelia had 12 children. Some time in the 1850's the family moved to Blacksburg, Montgomery County, Virginia. Isaiah served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. He served in Co. G of the 14th Virginia Cavalry and then in Co. D of the 14th Virginia Cavalry and was wounded in battle. Records have him listed as I R Kabrich and J R Kabrich, but this is the same man. His brother and two half-brothers also fought for the Confederacy, while some first cousins fought for the Union.
