"Samuel F. Aldrich Dead - He was one of the oldest settlers in Macomb County - Capac, Michigan, Aug 3, Special - Samuel F. Aldrich, aged 66 years, died at his home in this village today at 11 o'clock of consumption. Mr. Aldrich was one of the oldest settlers of Macomb and St. Clair Counties. He was born in York State in 1828, and at the age of 5 years, together with his parents, emigrated to Michigan and settled in Macomb County. He had traveled through nearly every township in this section of the state, and in his early days spent a good portion of his time among the Indians, and became quite a fluent talker in their native tongue. He was highly respected by all who were acquainted with him, and his many friends mourn his loss. He leaves a widow, one son and two daughters." (Detroit Free Press, Saturday Aug 4, 1894)
