Delila M. Amick
Mrs. Delila M. Amick, 80, of Illmo, Missouri, formerly of Shell Rock, passed away Monday morning November 28, 1977, in Illmo, where she had been living the past seven years.
Delila M. Walsh was born on April 23, 1897, near Clarksville, Iowa, the daughter of William and Ida (Shadbolt) Walsh. She attended school in Clarksville and graduated from the Clarksville High School in 1916. She then attended school at the Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls and later taught school in Shell Rock, Bristow and Kesley. On November 28, 1918, she was married in Cedar Heights, to Arnold O. Amick. They made their home in Shell Rock until 1952 when they moved to Allison. Mrs. Amick worked as a Butler County Welfare Worker and as Welfare Director for thirteen years, retiring in 1962. She lived in Allison until seven years ago when she made her home in Illmo, Missouri. Delila was a member of the Illmo United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women, a member of the Florence Rebekah Lodge in Illamo and formerly a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Shell Rock, and was a member of the Amvets Aux. in Allison, Iowa.
Mrs. Amick was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Arnold on July 19, 1954, and by two brothers and two sisters. She is survived by one son, Ollie Amick of Illmo, Missouri, five grandchildren and one great grandson.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Shell Rock United Methodist Church following graveside services for the fellowship with the Amick family.
