On Friday morning at the home of his father on Rand Street, occurred the death of Thomas H. Allston, aged 24 years. Deceased was a well known and popular young man, and employee of typewriter works, but for many months has been confined to his home by consumption. He was a graduate of Ilion public school, class of '90, an honored member of Council No. 56 O.U.A.M. of this village and also of Steamer & Hose Co No 1. He is survived by his father, James Allston, a sister, Mrs. M.J. Woods, and three brothers, James Allston Jr., of Cleveland, OH, Robert J. Allston and Samuel Allston of this village. The funeral was largely attended on Sunday afternoon from his late home, Rev A.C. Loucks of the M.E. Church conducting services. The floral tributes were numerous and elegant. The interment was made by Armory Hill Cemetery. The surviving members of his family have, in their bereavement, the warm sympathy of a large group of friends. Ilion Citizen, Friday, January 14, 1898
