After a long period of illness, Charles Leroy Additon passed away at his home in this town Wednesday afternoon at the age of 81 years. He was born in Veazie, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas O. Additon. When a small boy he came to Dexter and has lived for more than 50 years in the house where he died. Being across the line in the town of Corinna he voted there but did most of his trading in Dexter, belonged to the Dexter Grange of which he was a charter member, and was for many years a member of the Dexter First Baptist church.
He was married in 1874 to Miss Sarah Batchelder of Levant and 26 years ago, several years after her death, he married Mrs. Lydia Fisher of Dexter who survives him. Four children survive him, Miss Lona Additon and George Additon of Corinna; Mark Additon of Gardiner; and Mrs. Helen Roberts of Dexter; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Louise Ellms and Mrs. Florence Hoyt of Dexter. Funeral services will be held Saturday forenoon at 10 o'clock at the home, Frederick Knox officiating. Friends are asked to omit flowers.
