Bruce was born September 2, 1955 in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Sterling and Alvera Tappe Paul. He married Cynthia Wiewel on August 9, 1980 in Quincy, Illinois. She survives.
Bruce was a 1973 Q.H.S. graduate. He served in the United States Army from 1973 to 1976. Bruce received his Bachelors of Science in Chemistry from Quincy College, from where he graduated Suma Cum Laude in 1988. He worked at ADM for 23 years.
Bruce enjoyed his family and watching his boys play football. He was a strong supporter of Q.H.S., Knox College, and Quincy Spartan football. Bruce also enjoyed outdoor activities, especially hunting with his children.
Survivors include: wife, Cindy of Quincy, IL, six sons: Dustin (Aunda), Christopher, Brian, Andrew, Jacob, and Tyler, all of Quincy; a grandson, Ethan; his mother, Alvera of Quincy; three brothers: Victor of Quincy, Jerry (Pam) of Maud, TX; and Kevin (Teresa) of Colchester, IL; two sisters, Donna Paul of Quincy and Carla (Rich) Priest of Sheldon, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews
Bruce was preceded in death by his father, a daughter, Kelli Ann, and a brother, Kent.
Services: Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at 9:30 am at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home followed by a 10:00 am Mass at Blessed Sacrament Church, with Monsignor Michael Kuse officiating.
Burial: Calvary Cemetery
