HARTLAND-Donald P. Ricker, 78, died unexpectedly Wednesday night at a Pittsfield hospital. He was born April 14, 1910, in Presque Isle, son of Fred and Martha (Ridgewell) Ricker.

He was educated in Presque Isle schools and had been a resident of Hartland for the past three years. He previously lived in Norway.

He had been employed for more than 30 years for C.D. Cummings, Norway. He was an avid sportsman, belonging to area fish ad game clubs. He was a former member of the Second Congregational Church (United Church of Christ), Norway, and also a member of the First Congregational (United Church of Christ), Pittsfield.

Suvivors include his wife of 49 years, Marguerite (Dearborn) Ricker of Hartland; a son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Sherrill Ricker of Hamden, Conn.; a daughter and son-in-law, Judith Dawn and John Ricker-Steuben of Colorado; three brothers, Vernon Ricker of Dexter, Ivan Ricker of Presque Isle and Rodney Ricker of Portland; three sisters, Rose Gallager, Marion Higgins and Verna Ricker, all of Presque Isle; a granddaughter, Stephanie Lisa Ricker of Hamden, Conn. and a grandson, Ian John Donald Ricker-Steuben of Colorado.

A grandson, Michael Ricker, died in 1985; three brothers, LLoyd, Claude, and Ellery, and two sisters, Gladys and Hazel, all died previously.


Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Donald H. Shorey Funeral Chapel, Pittsfield with the Rev. Ellis Carr, pastor of the First Congregational Church, Pittsfield, officiating. Friends may call at the funeral chapel from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in the Morses Corner Cemetery, Corinna.
