Levi Ernest, 84, died Saturday afternoon at 1:50 o'clock at the home of a daughter, Mrs Alonzo Thompkins, of Goshen, following complications of old age. He had been bedfast for seven weeks
The deceased, son of Mr and Mrs George Ernest, was born in Cumberland county, Pa, and moved to this community when a small child. He resided on a farm in Union township for 43 years.
Mr Ernest was a member of the Mennonite church.
His wife, Catherine died nine years ago.
He is survived by five children, Mrs Alonzo Tompkins, Mrs Charles Golden of Ligonier, Mrs A R Killinger of Grand Rapids, Mich, Frank and Lawrence both of Goshen, 16 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs Mary Urmery, of Elkhart, and three half brothers, Alfred Ernest, of Colorado, John, of Sugar Grove, and James of New York.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Yellow Creek church. The Revs Ray Yoder and David Miller officiated. Burial was made in Yellow Creek cemetery.
