His body was interred in the Mt. Pisgah area of Kershaw County, S.C. In the 1960s his grandson went looking for the site and was unable to find it - he thought it was between Bethune and Kershaw. Mr. Perry Mosley who lived in the area remembered a stream called the Tyre/Mehaffey branch. He grew up across the road and remembered tombstones across the stream. However, when they went to go look, it had been vandalized and they could not locate any markers.
