Violanta M. Pfile, 80, of Springfield, died at 12:55 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 21, 1993, in her home. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at St. Agnes Church with the Rev. Donald Kocher and nephew of Mrs. Pfile, officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Springfield. Wake services will be at 4 p.m., Friday. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday. Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home in Springfield is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the St. John's Hospice, Dominican Sisters of Springfield or St. Agnes Church.

Mrs. Pfile was born on May 13, 1913, in Ste. Marie the daughter of Charles and Bertha (Brookfield) Kocher. She married William H. (Bill) Pfile in 1939 in Decatur.

Mrs. Pfile was a homemaker. She was a member of the St. Agnes Church and used to be active in Newcomers Welcome Wagon, St. Joseph's Home Coterie and served as a past president of St. Therese's Guild of the Church of The Little Flower.

Mrs. Pfile is survived by her husband, William H. (Bill) Pfile of Springfield; a son, Larry Pfile Of Kirkwood, Mo.; three daughters, Sister Janet Marie of Aurora, Sister Donna Marie of Springfield and Mrs. Donna Sorensen of Austin, Texas; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Ireneaus Kocher of Ste. Marie and Maynard Kocher of Willow Hill; four sisters, Dorothy Bretz of Decatur, Georgiane Cumpata of Oswego, Eugenia Hahn of Wheaton and Bernadine Sittler of Elkhorn; several nieces and nephews and several cousins.

Mrs. Pfile was preceded in death by two brothers, Cletus and Vincent Kocher; and a sister, Henrietta Drendel.
