Gordon Vincent McCarty, 79, of Petal, Miss., died at 9:05 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 4, 1993, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Danville.
Mr. McCarty will be cremated and a private service will be held at a later date in the Acton Cemetery in Grandburg, Texas. Lakeside Funeral Chapel, in Danville, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the VA Medical Center, in care of Volunteer Services, Danville, Ill., 61832, in memory of Gordon V. McCarty.
Mr. McCarty was born July 1, 1914, in Houston, Texas, the son of Gordon Leigh and Elizabeth (Patrick) McCarty.
Mr. McCarty was a pipe fitter and a member of Local #57, Salt Lake City, Utah. He was a member of the American Legion Post #146, in Petal, Miss.
Mr. McCarty is survived by a daughter, Yolanda Ann Schmidt of Calhoun; two brothers, Marion McCarty and Kenneth McCarty, both of Arizona; a sister, Elizabeth Wellborn of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; four grandchildren, Troy, Anne, Tony and Chris Schmidt and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. McCarty was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a half- brother and a daughter, Janice McCarty Brothers.
