Grandfather of seven grandchildren
After their marriage, the couple farmed in the Paton area until 1963 and then operated the Paton Hardware Store and Flower Shop. They moved to Jefferson in 1973. Ted managed the S & S Store until retiring in October 1981. Betty was employed at American Athletic for several years. Later she did bookkeeping for several businesses and answered the telephone for Brown Funeral Home for over 25 years.
Ted was a member of Elks Lodge No. 2306 in Jefferson and Salem United Methodist Church in Paton, where his funeral service was held March 29.
Ted is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Betty); his four children; Steve and his wife, Deb, of Carroll, Tom and his wife, Julie, of Sioux City, Kris McPherson and her husband, Mike, of Jefferson and Kathie Thomsen of Jefferson; his brother Leo and sister Helen Owens.
