James L Freed 60, was dead on arrival Tuesday at the Lewistown Hospital. He was born August 11, 1915 in Alfarata to the late James C and Ethel Hughes Freed. A son George W Freed proceded him in death in 1974. His wife Valda F Treaster Freed survives along with three grandchildren George W Jr, Brenda E and Bonnie M Freed all at home whom he reared. Others survivors include two sisters Mrs William[Alberta} McCormick of Clinton, Maryland, and Mrs Paul {Martha} Flynn of Fairfax,Virginia and six grandchildren. Freed was employed in the forge shop st Stand Steel Works for 37 years, retiring on disability in 1973.He was a member of the St Marks's Lutheran Church ,Alfarata, the Adult Bible School Class, United Steel Workers Union No 1940, Decatur Grange No 1920 and the Alfarata Fire Company. A funeral will be held Friday at 10:30 am at Hellers Burnham Funeral Home,with Rev Ralph L Heagy officiating. Interment will be made at the Union Memorial Gardens,Mifflintown. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thurdsday from 7 to 9 pm.
