Sworn into U.S. Army on 2 Oct 1917; shipped to St. Nazaire, France on 26 Nov 1917, as a private, 116th Engineer Train, 41st Division; detached duty to Headquarters, Base Section No. 1 at St. Nazaire; To be examined for commission 20 Nov 1918, but armistice cancelled that; transferred back to headquarters 30 Nov 1918 and promoted to Battalion Sergeant Major; promoted to Regimental Sergeant Major 24 Jan 1919; sailed from St. Nazaire, France 25 Mar 1919; discharged at Mineola, Nassau, New York om 5 Apr 1919.


Married Laura Rose Swett on 18 Oct 1926 in Riverside, Calif.

Harold A. Burnham

Cremation graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Santa Maria Cemetery for Harold A. Burnham, 91, a resident of Alhambra who died Wednesday in an Alhambra hospital after a lengthy illness. Rev. J. Stanley Parke will officiate.

Mr. Burnham was born in Jackson, Minn. and had lived in Santa Maria since 1941, until moving to Alhambra a few years ago. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War I. He was a member of the Hesperian Masonic Lodge No. 264 F&AM of Santa Maria and the Royal Arch No. 109 of El Centro.

Survivors include his sisters, Mrs. Robert F. Hickey, La Jolla, and Mrs. Jefferson Beard, Treasure Island, Fla.; niece, Patricia Lester, South Pasadena, nephew Robert Hickey, Kentfield.

Dudley-Hoffman Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
