He was a self employed mason and a member of Christ Lutheran Church of Harrisburg, New Bloomfield VFW Post 7463, Newport Moose Lodge 1562, Carlisle Eagles Aerie and the Newport Social Order of Owls.
Surviving are his wife, Debra L. McDonald Ballent; a son, Shawn L. of Carlisle; a daughter, Brandy L. of Shermans Dale; two stepdaughters, Araina M. and Heather J.Osborne, both at home; his parents, Leonard J. Sr. and Velma Inch Ballent of Mechanicsburg; two brothers, Terry of Dauphin and Richard of Carlisle; a sister, Alice of Harrisburg; his maternal grandmother, Edna Inch of Middleburg; and a grandchild.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Nickel Funeral Home, Loysville. Burial will be in Bloomfield Cemetery, New Bloomfield.
Viewing will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday and 1 to 2 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
