A German fighter pilot during WWII, he carried the equivalent rank of 2nd Lieutenant and was attached to the 'Richtofen' squad of the Jagdgeschwader Gruppe (JG).

With 6 credited kills throughout the Eastern and Mediterranean Theaters of Operation, he was a formidable and decorated pilot.

Among his credits is believed to have been B-17 42-3071 of the 331st Bomb Squadron of the 94th Bomb Group, 8th US Army Airforce which was brought down over Le Bourget, Paris on July 14, 1943.

Fw. von Farnholz was killed November 26, 1943 during aerial combat at Brie Compte Robert near Paris in his G-6 figher Bf 109G-6 ‘White 1' (Wk Nr 410496) when he was shot down by P-47's of the 78th US Fighter Group.
