Mrs. Elsie Gustafson, 61, wife of A. W. Gustafson, owner of Gustafson Manufacturing Co., here, died in a local hospital. Mrs. Gustafson was active in garden clubs and a member of the Opti-Missus Club and the First Methodist Church. She was a registered nurse. Her husband started his business in 1940 with the invention of a crop duster. As the business grew he branched out into the field of uranium, for which he invented the Drill Scout, a device for finding uranium. Gustafson's industry was originally built on his inventions of farm machinery and irrigation equipment. Funeral services Saturday at the First Methodist Church. Burial Seaside Memorial Park. Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Carolyn Isensee; a brother Ruben Ahlgren, two sisters, Mrs. Clifford Wade and Mrs. Nena Garrett, and a grandson, all of Corpus Christi; three other sisters, Mrs. Frank Carlson and Mrs. A. W. Dawson, both of Austin, and Mrs. P. R. Grimes of San Antonio, and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be R. S. Carter, William Ponder, C. C. Morris, A. D. Johnson, Marvin Ericson and Dave Morris.
