A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 17, 2006, in Estacada Funeral Chapel for Glenn L. Althauser, who died March 10, at age 77.
Mr. Althauser was born Nov. 18, 1928, in Topeka, Kan. He moved to Gresham in the early 1940's and to Boring in 1949. He was a logger and rock quarry worker. In early 1949, he married Grace Kraus; she died in 1994.
Survivors include his daughters, Nancy Wier and Ruth Althauser; sons, Glenn C., Tom, Jim, John and Andy; 23 grandchidren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Boring resident Glenn Althauser, 77, died Friday, March 10, in Gresham of natural causes. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 17, at the Estacada Funeral Chapel, 110 First Ave. A reception will follow at the Estacada Senior Center, 200 S.W. Clubhouse Drive.
He was born Nov., 18, 1928, in Topeka, Kan., to Fred and Annabelle (Andrews) Althauser. He was raised and educated in Topeka and moved to Gresham in his teenage years. He attended Gresham High School.
On April 4, 1949, he married Grace Kraus.
He was a self-employed logger and rock quarry operator until his retirenment in 1995.
He was a patron of the Estacada Public Library, and an avid rock hunter, history buff and collector of artifacts and antiques. Each Christmas, he lit up a 160-foot tree on his property.
His wife preceeded him in death June 11, 1994. Survivors include his sister, Cleona Bales of Medford; daughters, Nancy Wier of Pomona, Mo., and Ruth Althauser of Kent, Wa.; sons, Glen C. Althauser of Sandy, Tom Althauser of Gresham, Jim Althauser of Estacada, John Althauser of Oregon City, Andy Althauser of Boring, 23 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the Estadada Public Library, 475 S.E, Main St, 97023.
