Arthur K. Hodsdon, 83, formerly of South Street, Yarmouth, died Tuesday at the Barron center after a long illness. Born in North Yarmouth, a son of Albert E. and Susie B. Kimball Hodsdon, he graduated from Yamrouth High school in 1927 and received a bachelor of science degree in civic engineering from Northeastern University in 1931. For about 40 years, Mr. Hodsdon was a general superintendent of Robert A. Verrier Construction Co. He was a longtime resident of Yamrouth where he was a trustee for the Yarmouth Water District, served on the Yarmouth Planning Bord and received the Yarmouth Latchstring Award in 1984. He was a member of the Central Men's Club of Yarmouth and the First Universalist Church, Yarmouth. His wife, Ruth Loring Hodsdon, died in 1985. Surviving are a son, Dennis K. of Suira Vista, Ariz., a daughter Martha Despeaux of Towson, Md.; three brothers, Albert E. Jr. of Rumford, Robert J. and Richard H., both of Yarmouth; five gradchildren and two great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Lindquist Funeral Home 37, Portland St., Yarmouth. The Rev. Peter Luton will officiate. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Yarmouth.
