THATCHER

Mark Alvin Thatcher was born Sept. 16, 1961, in Chariton, Iowa, and passed away May 10, 1994, at the age of 32 years, seven months and 24 days.

Mark attended the Chariton Public Schools and graduated from Southwestern Community College in Creston in 1984. Following a car accident, Mark was left disabled and he endured several years of physical and emotional pain.

As a young boy, he accepted Christ as his Saviour and was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Mark is survived by his parents, Leo and Bonnie Thatcher of Chariton; two sisters, Ann Thatcher of Chariton and Tami Petty of O'Fallon, Mo.; two brothers, Brian of Chariton and Alan and his wife, Janet of Cedar Rapids.; his grandmother, Helen Willits of Chariton; four nieces, Rachel, Erica and Kendra Thatcher, Sarah Petty and one nephew, Michael Petty.

Mark loved the out-of-doors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, biking and just walking in the woods.

He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 14, at the Fielding Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Olson officiating. Burial was in the Chariton Cemetery. Serving as bearers were Alan Thatcher, Brian Thatcher, Michael Petty, Charles Storm, Larry May and Charles Musick.
