Isabela Ross cemetery monument in the Old Presbyterian cemetery in South
Lancaster. From the stone, in 1984 I marked the year of death for Isabela at
1811. I do not now remember now how hard it may have been to read but
obviously it could not have been easy because the new stone has the 1817
date (ie I was wrong).
I am not sure if Lorne was wrong or if the new stone is wrong. Alexander D. Grant's notebook has the 1811 date as well. You sent a copy of the relevant page. Since Alexander D. Grant died in 1933 the only thing I am sure of is the old stone was in bad shape before Lorne was born in 1950.
I have both
1811 from the notebook and The Rosses of Martintown.
1817 from Loyalist Lineages of Canada Volume II and Gravestones of Glengarry Vol 2
