He was a member of the Rexford Methodist Church in the Rexford Community, and was a retired farmer.
Survivors include his longtime wife, Mrs. Tina Bell "Tiny Bell" H. Harper of the Rexford Community in Simpson Co., one brother, Earnest Harper of Mendenhall, one sister, Mrs. Bessie Gates of Brandon, a number of nieces and nephews and a very good friend, neighbor and almost like a son to them, Charles W. McPhail, Sr. also of Simpson Co. in the Rexford Community.
Services were held at New Zion Baptist Church at 3:00 p.m. Friday, December 11, 1987 with Rev. Ronnie Gomillion officiating. Burial was at New Zion Cemetery with Upton Funeral Home in Mendenhall in charge of arrangements.
