Mrs. George E. Seward
Mrs. George E. Seward, aged 64 years, died at her home in Spivey, Kansas, July 20 as the result of Bright's disease. Funeral services were held in the Christian Church at Spivey on July 22, and the body was laid to rest in the cemetery at that place. (should be Duquoin Cemetery)

Anna Grace Cowan was born February 17, 1860, near Winthrop, Buchanan County, Iowa. Her early childhood was spent at her birthplace but at the age of10, she moved with her parents to Harvey County, Kansas., settling on a government homestead, November 22, 1870. This was her home until marriage to George E. Seward.

The remainder of her life was spent in Kansas save a short time in that portion of the Indiana Territory known as "No Man's Land" now a part of the State of Oklahoma, and a period of eight years on a homestead in Douglas County, Missouri near Buckhart in the Ozarks. She had been a resident of Spivey, Kansas for 13 years.

Mrs. Seward was the mother of 4 children, all boys, one of whom died in infancy. She is survived by her husband, and 3 sons, Emery Orville Seward of Solomon, Kansas, and Robert Alva Seward and Perry Andrew Seward of Salina, Kansas. Two brothers, Robert & Andrew Cowan of near Newton, also survive.

A patient sufferer for 6 years, Mrs. Seward had been a death's door many times. She was a member of the 7th Day Adventist Church.
