James C. Elgin, 82, Dies at Salisbury
SALISBURY, Mo., Aug. 5. — James C. Elgin, well-known citizen, died at his home on LaFever street yesterday afternoon after critical illness of several weeks. He was a native of Illinois, the town of Elgin, having been named for his family. He came as a young child to Paris, Mo., to live. In 1889 he was married there to Sally Belle McNutt, who survives him.
Mr. Elgin was a traveling salesman for the greater part of his active life. When retired from that he entered the drug business in Fulton. He and Mrs. Elgin came here about 14 years ago, after the death of Dr. J. F. Welch, to make their home with Mrs. Welch, sister of Mrs. Elgin. A half brother, Robert Elgin, lives Hannibal.
The funeral will be Sunday afternoon from the Welch home. The body will be taken to Paris for burial.
