Mrs. Marian Austin
Mrs. Marian Sophia Austin, 96, formerly of Detour, died Thursday, Oct. 19, at Northampton Manor Nursing Home, Frederick, after an extended illness. She was the wife of Loren Kyle Austin, who died in 1985. Born Dec. 28, 1898, in Carroll County, she was a daughter of the late Robert L. and M. Frances Stitely Miller. Mrs. Austin was a member of Keysville Lutheran Church where she was a member of L.C.W. She was a member of the ladies auxiliary of VFW Past 8806 of Union Bridge, a charter member of Keysville-Detour Homemakers and she was a Gold Star Mother. She had been a resident of Northampton Manor since 1990. Surviving are two daughters, Fay Maltagliati of St. Clair Shores, Mich., and Thelma Baltzell and husband Donald of Union Bridge. She will be remembered by Melvin, Debbie, Kyle, Jeffrey and Michael Bostian. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Austin, who died in Okinawa in 1945. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Oct 22, at the Union Bridge funeral home of D. D. Hartzler. Private graveside services will be held later with her pastor, the Rev. James M. Russell, officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Keysville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Keysville Lutheran Church, 7775 Forest & Stream Club Road, Detour, Md. 21757.
