He married the sister of my great-great-grandmother Salome Somers Lesser, daughters of Margaret Schuler #32901289 and Johann Wendel Somers #32901211. Here is an extract from my family history:

Elizabeth "Libbie" Somers, findagrave #70737969, was born in Conewango, Warren County, PA, April 3, 1849; died in Mexico, Missouri, November 4, 1950; buried at Paton, Greene Co., Iowa. She married in Illinois about June 11, 1867, David Arnold, findagrave #70737956. He was born in Pennsylvania in October 1840; died in 1918; buried at Paton, Greene Co., Iowa. His title was Captain; his military marker reads "GAR 1861-1865".

They are listed in the 1880 US Census in Cook Co., Illinois, as David Arnold, 39, b. PA; Libbie, 31, b. PA; Beatrice, 12; Maud, 8; and Rhoda, 2.

They are listed in the 1900 US Census in Paton, Greene Co., Iowa, next door to her brother-in-law Martin Wessling, as David Arnold, b. Oct 1840, Farmer, married 33 years; Elizabeth, b. Feb 1848, 4 children, 3 living; Maude M., b. May 1875, School Teacher; Rhoda C., b. Mar 1879; parents born in PA, children in Illinois. They had four children:
(a) Beatrice Arnold, b. ca 1868

(c) Maude M. Arnold, b. Illinois May 1875
