Obituary
Mrs. John Warner, died at her home in Elysian township Tuesday evening at six o'clock, after an illness of several weeks from gall stones. While there had been little hope for her recovery the passing of this good woman brought deepest sorrow to the family and her many friends in the community.
The funeral was held Thursday, the service being conducted y Rev. Skewes, at the M. E. church, of which the deceased has been a faithful member or fifty years. Interment was made in Cedar Hill cemetery.
Mrs. Carrie Heath Warner was borne in Greene, New York, on July 4, 1841. Her marriage to Mr. John Warner took place at Elsian on January 2, 1865, when she came from her former home in Plainfield, Wis. She was thus among the early settlers in this locality. In fact when they settled on their homestead north of Elysian the region thereabouts was a wilderness, but they were among the pioneers who had a happy home, and as the territory developed their labors grew easier and because of their industry and thrift they were able to pass their declining years in well earned comfort. Our generation owes much to men and women who like Mr. and Mrs. Warner laid the foundation for the county's present foundation, and a grateful community will honor their memory.
Mrs. Warner was a good Christian woman, respected by all who knew her. She is survived by her aged husband, three daughters and one son, - Mrs. Annie Swain, Mrs. Florence Beardsley, Albert J. Warner, of Elysian; and Mrs. Cora Draper of Cylinder, Ia. Her bereaved relatives have the sympathy of neighbors and friends in their sorrow.
