RUSH — Hugh Jack Banfield, 78, of Rush, passed away Tuesday evening, May 31, 2011, at his home.
Mr. Banfield was born Oct. 31, 1932, in Rush, a son of the late Burns and Lelia Ross Banfield. Hugh Jack retired from Armco Steel after 40 years of service as a shipping foreman and was a member of Green Hills Masonic Lodge 521, the Scottish Rite in Ashland and El Hasa Shriners in Ashland. He was a member of the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders Association and bred and raised Tennessee Walking Horses. He also farmed.
He is survived by a son, Hugh Steven Banfield of Seattle, Wash.; a sister; Evelyn George of Rush; a sister-in-law; Jo Banfield of Catlettsburg; nieces Nickie Holbrook Smith, Marcia Banfield Runyon and Beverly Bowling Tomlin; nephews Tim Bowling, Mike Bowling, Bill Banfield and Jerald Blanton; and a special cousin, Lynn Ledbetter.
Hugh Jack was also preceded in death by his former wife, Betty McKenzie Banfield; a daughter, Alice Banfield; a brother, William Shade Banfield; sisters George Anna Hill and Sue Bowling; two infant brothers; and a nephew, Jack Hill.
A graveside service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, June 4, 2011, at Ross Cemetery in Rush, with Masonic services at the grave. Pastor Keith Crum will officiate.
Visitation will be from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home in Catlettsburg.
The family graciously asked donations be made to Ross Cemetery, c/o Nickie Smith, 22124 Jack Fork Road, Rush, KY 41168.
